BBED6796
Faculty of Education, the University of Hong Kong
2021

As a guest lecturer on the course, I led a field trip to Sheung Yiu Museum for a class of 20 undergraduate students. The class aims were to build an understanding of:
-
how excavations are undertaken in Hong Kong
-
how objects are transferred from site to museum (storage and display)
-
power dynamics and biases in the curatorial process
-
basic object handling in museums

This was achieved by:
-
a tour of the Sheung Yiu heritage area
-
a critical evaluation and discussion on the attached museum's displays
-
an object handling session
Interns and Volunteers
University Museum and Art Gallery, the University of Hong Kong
2021

I have worked alongside interns who are mainly interested in developing a career in archaeology or curation – through a museum-based research project, of which I am co-PI.
I am keen on tailoring the internship experience to the interests of the individual, and ensuring that they undertake work that is valuable to both themselves and the museum. Generally, I also endeavour to provided training on:
-
cross-disciplinary knowledge on archaeology and museums, particularly in the transitional contexts of depositing and caring for archaeological collections
-
object handling
-
cataloguing and documentation skills
-
basic collections care
-
object photography and digitisation
3D Photogrammetry

monitor students in the digitising process
